Meet Mama Faraji, a remarkable woman radiating warmth, love, passion, and dreams. As a former teacher in a local primary school, she grew up understanding the transformative power of education. Mama Faraji’s infectious smile and eagerness to help others make her an extraordinary individual. Having experienced the pain of becoming an orphan at the age of three, she intimately understands the challenges faced by these vulnerable children. Her parents’ divorce and subsequent passing placed her life in the caring hands of her grandmother, coincidentally, also an orphan.

Mama Faraji and her relatives attended a modest government school in the village for their primary education. However, upon completing primary school, her grandmother could only afford to send one child to secondary school. Recognizing Mama’s outstanding academic achievements, her grandmother made the difficult choice to support Mama Faraji’s enrollment in secondary school. Mama Faraji excelled, graduated high school, and went on to pursue a university education. She earned her bachelor’s degree in education and embarked on a fulfilling career as a primary school teacher. Even in her teenage years, Mama Faraji selflessly took on the responsibility of raising her younger family members.

In 2001, Mama Faraji opened her home to care for 16 orphans. As the number of children in need grew, she realized that keeping them in the same area and fostering a sense of family was crucial. In 2005/2006, Mama Faraji secured a local building with eight rooms and established Tuleeni Home in Rau village, Moshi Municipal. Her motivation stemmed from a deep desire to alleviate the hardships faced by children who had lost their parents.

Initially housing 18 children, Tuleeni Home has since expanded its reach. Today, it provides a loving environment for over 100 children, spanning from pre-primary to university students. The success of Tuleeni is a testament to the collective efforts of donors, friends, and Mama Faraji herself. Initially relying on her modest salary to sustain the orphanage, Mama Faraji’s unwavering dedication attracted increased support as the number of children grew. Recognizing the need for additional resources, she reached out to friends and donors, seeking their assistance.
