At Tuleeni Orphans Home, we firmly believe in the transformative power of education. Many of the children under our care have never had the chance to step foot inside a school. To change this, we allocate over $26,000 annually to ensure that our children receive the education they deserve.
Currently, we provide support to more than 100 children, with over 40 of them residing at the orphanage. Additionally, we extend our financial assistance to other children living with extended families or relatives, similar to foster placements. Our commitment to education is unwavering.
Sponsorship Program: Building Futures
Through our sponsorship program, we have helped more than 170 children in Tanzania gain access to education. We are proud to share that 47 of our youths have inspiring success stories to tell. Among them, we have 13 pursuing careers in the health sector as doctors and nurses, 25 excelling in the business sector (including employed business administrators and self-employed entrepreneurs), 6 engaged in the education sector as teachers, and 2 dedicated to social work. Currently, we have over 100 children enrolled in various schools across Tanzania.
Public Schools Renovation Program: Creating Better Learning Environments
In the past two years, we embarked on renovating Chombo Primary School, located just a few minutes from the orphanage. This school, with over 60 years of history, has been neglected and lacks sufficient support from the government. Recognizing its importance as the only available school in the village, we took it upon ourselves to initiate renovations and provide essential resources such as books and school supplies. Our goal is to transform this school into an institution that can cater to the educational needs of over 200 children in the community.
Top Threes Program: Enhancing Academic Performance
To ensure that children from the orphanage and nearby public schools excel academically, we have implemented the Top Threes Program. Through this initiative, we offer additional classes and conduct weekly tests. The top three performers are rewarded with gifts. With public school classes often accommodating over 40 students, it is challenging for teachers to provide individual attention to each child. By providing extra classes, we aim to enhance understanding and improve academic performance.
Free Childhood Education: Nurturing Young Minds
Through Tuleeni Academy and Akili daycare programs, we offer free pre-primary education to young children, preparing them for primary school. These children come from the nearby community, specifically selected based on the financial constraints preventing them from attending school. Our ongoing project aims to expand to a full-fledged primary school, provided we receive sufficient funds.
